How can you get the most out of the time in between EMDR(Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) sessions? Can bodywork help?

We know that trauma lives in the body. We know that a certain sensation can signal safety or danger. We know our body can be a touchpoint of connection with different aspects of self.

Bodywork - especially with a trauma-informed professional - can be extremely supportive as you move through the reprocessing stages of EMDR. Carly Bennyhoff of Mindful Moments Wellness shares what you can expect when incorporating bodywork into your supportive practices outside of therapy:

"The bodywork provided at Mindful Moments Wellness is designed to meet you where you are and gently guide you towards feeling more comfortable and safe in your body.

When you first arrive, we’ll have a chat about your goals and anything you’d like me to know. I’ll ask you if there are any areas of the physical body that you’d like me to focus on or avoid, and then we’ll custom-tailor the treatment plan which can include traditional Swedish massage, gentle myofascial release, trigger point therapy, craniosacral, subtle energy work.

We also offer 3 treatment options that are perfect for folks who would rather not disrobe; dress in your favorite cozy clothes and receive “Bodywork for Anxiety and Depression” that uses pressure points on the head, hands and feet; Craniosacral Therapy that includes long, gentle “holds” with hands lightly touching various points along the spine & body; and Restorative Yoga that includes guided breathing and practicing relaxing into supportive bolsters.

Deep relaxation supports your brain and body’s natural healing mechanisms, so treatments at Mindful Moments include complimentary upgrades like hot stones and aromatherapy to support your decompression."
