My Story

It is possible to live a life unbridled. When we are truly unencumbered by our wounds--and not just functional--we wield the capacity to uplift everyone we encounter, in each interaction. We achieve this through adaptive meaning-making forged from experience, insight, and a felt sense of belonging. At the same time, we earn a deep unwavering trust in ourselves.

Resolving these wounds starts with internal repair work and extends to our loved ones and those around us. It requires approaching our behaviors and emotional landscape with curiosity, courage, and compassion.  This process allows us to access our creativity and generativity and equips us to deepen our empathy and understanding in our relationships and be present as the fullest version of ourselves in all we do.

My curiosity connects me to others and keeps me engaged. My love of understanding the humans around me started young: I stole my brother's psychology textbook in middle school and battled my way through Carl Jung's Memories, Dreams, Reflections at 15 years old. I was captivated by dream interpretation and working with symbols. By the time I began my undergraduate studies at Connecticut College, my love of creative expression and commitment to learning shaped a compelling vision of what my path would be. During my time there, when I wasn't spending time with the horses at one of the school barns, I collaborated on research related to stigma, crime, and mental health diagnoses. I spent several years in community mental health, acute care, and school settings before deciding on the graduate program at Eastern Virginia Medical School. My time there allowed me to synthesize my creativity and clinical skills, with a research focus on attachment theory as it relates to eating disorders and relational trauma.

In my clinical work today, I draw on this foundation to offer an interactive, engaging, and tailored approach. I have advanced training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and integrate this model alongside ego state work to best support couples navigating complex trauma. As an EMDR-trained psychotherapist and art therapist, I offer individuals and couples an experiential, evidence-based path forward. I am fully licensed in Virginia and Maine, and I am telehealth licensed in Florida and South Carolina.

I make an effort to broaden my lived experience, and by extension meaning-making: I hold Reiki I and II attunement and 200 hour yoga teacher training. I have over 10 years experience studying mediumship and participated in Dr. Lenore Matthews's 2023 research exploring grief, mediumship awakenings, and the implications for mental health. I regularly partner with FETCH a Cure to raise funds and to provide Pet Loss Support groups.

Outside the therapy room, I am a proud dog and horse mom (Uproar is the registered name of my horse Rose). I am currently honoring my curiosity through traveling, deepening my study of animal communication, and taking French lessons. I believe there is much to know in this world, and I hold that curiosity as a value for myself and for the clients I serve. It is an honor to bear witness on your journey toward flourishing.
